When can my child attend Prep?

Prep is available to all children who have their fifth birthday from 1 July in the year preceding prep, to the 30 June during their Prep year.  View the department's Prep Ready Reckoner to determine when your child can commence their preparatory year.

All other enrolments are processed on an individual basis and with consideration for our Enrolment Management Plan (pdf, 616kb). Out of catchment applications are placed on a wait list in order of date received until it is determined if we have the capacity to accept out of catchment enrolments. The Principal's letter regarding enrolment further explains this process.

Parents/carers are asked to complete a detailed enrolment form.  Upon application, a birth certificate or passport will need to be sighted before a student is able to commence.  Information received on this enrolment form enables us to maintain full information of all those aspects necessary for the protection and well-being of the child.  Early notification of any change of address, phone number, emergency contact or custody/access arrangements etc. is essential.

Prep Information Sessions

Bellevue Park State School will host Prep Information sessions and Principal's tours aimed at introducing parents of prospective Prep students to information pertaining to the schooling offered at Bellevue Park State School. Information sessions are held in Term 1 and Term 2. We also offer parent workshops in Term 2, each covering valuable topics aimed at informing parents with vital information in keys areas such as language & communication, early literacy, learning through play & wellbeing. Please contact Administration to register your interest in attending one of our sessions.

Prep Enrolment Interviews

All enrolling Prep students are also required to participate in a Prep enrolment interview to help ascertain their readiness for the Prep year.  Prep interviews are held midway through term 4. Our enrolment officer will contact parents to arrange their child's Prep interview after enrolment has been confirmed.

Prep Experience

To help facilitate a smooth transition into their first year of school all confirmed Prep students are invited to participate in a Prep Experience morning where they visit a Prep classroom and participate in school based activities where they can familiarise themselves with the classroom environment. The Prep Experience morning is held late in Term 4.

Please contact Administration via email at 1925_admin@eq.edu.au or phone on 5504 8222 for more information.
